  • Golden Dragon

    106 W. Seltice Way Coeur d'Alene/Post Falls

Located next to a gas station and used car lot, the locale of Golden Dragon doesn't exactly scream "best Chinese food in the entire city." But despite the lackluster building and cracked, secondhand Formica tables, the restaurant serves some of the best authentic Asian in the area. The hot and spicy chicken dish combines crunchy green peppers, fresh onions, and juicy chicken — so good that you forget you're eating off cracked china dishes in a side alley in Post Falls. • Zola

    22 W. Main Spokane - Downtown

Quirky and casual, Zola mixes good food, cold drinks and cheap prices into one mean happy hour. Zola partner Jeff Short says the downtown bar holds its happy hour to high standards. “It’s not just our prices,” he says. “Everything we do is made from scratch. We make sure everything is a 9 or 10.” Stop by after work to wind down with their $5.50 food menu. Nothing calms workplace rage like listening to live music from a tilt-o-whirl booth. (July 2013)
